Bob Wilson Memorial Autocross, Tallahassee – Sat, March 24

Category : News

If you’ll be in Tallahassee on 3/24, or can make the trip that weekend, please join the North Florida Region (NFL) for the Bob Wilson Memorial Autocross.  As you are probably aware, Bob was the President of the NFL Region, and he died unexpectedly on February 10th.  He and the NFL Region put a lot of effort into planning this AX, and Bob would have wanted it to be fun and successful.  So, let’s do our best to support the North Florida Region and participate, while we celebrate Bob’s memory.

Thanks for your support of this event – we hope a lot of you from other Regions can come over to have fun and get to know the great folks of the North Florida Region.

For more information and to pre-register, go to Clubregistration.net and search for North Florida Region PCA – NFL Region AutoX March 24, 2018.

Location: The AX will be held at 1528 Surgeons Drive, Tallahassee, FL 32308, in the rear parking lot behind the Ghazvini Center for Health Care Education.

Pre-registration closes on ClubReg on March 21, 2018.  Onsite registration opens at 8:00 AM on March 24th and payment will be made onsite.  Make checks payable to PCA North Florida Region.  The fee for PCA Members is $25 (please bring your membership card), or $35 for Non-PCA Members.  Non-Porsches are welcome to join in the fun.

Werks Reunion – March 9, 2018 – Omni Amelia Island Plantation Resort

Category : News

Join in on the fun at the 2nd annual Werks Reunion Amelia Island on March 9, 2018. Expect to view a breathtaking array of Porsches, from rare classics to current models.

The judged portion of the show is sold out, but the model-specific corrals still have plenty of room. Register by March 1, to park in the corral: https://www.motorsportreg.com/events/porsche-club-of-america-werks-reunion-amelia-omni-resort-golf-course-pca-136803

The Corral parking (Porsche only) fee is $50 per car, and you’ll receive an event goodie bag, reserved model-specific parking space, and will be automatically entered into the drawing for several exciting prizes provided by Pirelli. We will be parking all registered Porsches by model. The 356s and outlaws (our featured model) will be parked up front this year.

***You do not need to register just to attend. Only owners of Porsches entering the judged field or parking in the Porsche corral need to register.*** Spectators are welcome to attend 2018 Werks Reunion Amelia Island free of charge (general parking fees apply).

Here’s a tease of some of the special cars that will be on display: The 356 SL Gmund Coupe (the first Porsche to take a class win at Le Mans) recently restored by Emory Motorsports. Emory will also be bringing a 356 outlaw with a 964 Carrera 4 drivetrain. Lori Schutz will be bringing the 911 Speedster Prototype that her dad designed. And Griot’s will be bringing a 908.

Vendors will be on hand to show off and sell their latest Porsche merchandise, and the Omni will be selling coffee & breakfast items in the morning and several food options for lunch, as well as there being a beer garden and cash bar. Feel free to avoid the food lines by bringing your own picnic basket and bottle of wine!

PCA membership is not required to attend, so invite your Porsche friends to sign up. Come out for a fun relaxing day of all-things Porsche.

For more information, visit http://werksreunion.com/amelia.cfm.

Werks Reunion: Friday, March 9
Omni Amelia Island Plantation Resort, Florida
39 Beach Lagoon Rd
Fernandina Beach, FL 32034

Werks Reunion was created by the Porsche Club of America as an event to celebrate both the Porsche marque as well as the camaraderie of being an enthusiast. This is not a contest of who has removed dust from the deepest crevices in their Porsche but rather a judged show that rewards a Porsche that has been lovingly maintained and presents itself well on the field. Our judges do not use Porsche Parade Concours score sheets but rather rank the cars according to certain attributes discussed prior to judging.

For those who do not wish to have their cars judged, you may display in the model-specific corrals or if the organizers see fit, on the judged field itself. There are no score sheets returned or protest committees. This is a casual gathering of Porsche enthusiasts focused on having fun rather than solely competition.

7:00 AM – Registration opens
7:00-9:00 AM – Cars placed on field and in parking corral
7:00-10:00 AM – Breakfast and coffee carts available
9:30 AM-12:00 – PM Judging
10:00 AM-4:00 PM – Cash bar stocked with a wide variety of beers, wines and spirits
11:00 AM-1:00 PM – Lunch available from onsite vendors
2:00-3:00 PM – Awards Ceremony
ALL DAY View cars, socialize, have fun!

In memory of our Zone 12 Secretary and North Florida Region President, Bob Wilson

Category : News

A few words from the new NFL President, Tim Kerns:
It is with profound sadness that I tell you that our very dear friend, and President of North Florida Region PCA, Bob Wilson, died unexpectedly Saturday afternoon. We will follow up with further information for Region members as soon as we are made aware.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Christa and her family.

Bob was one of the nicest people I’d ever met in PCA – he always had a warm smile and was willing to selflessly help out any way he could. And he loved all that we did as a Club. He was a great Secretary for the Zone membership, representing the Board very well. He will be missed by so many but always remembered.

President – Bob Wilson

Bob was retired after 25 years working for the National Park Service as an archeologist and museum curator. His first encounter with Porsches occurred when he was 15. On his way to the public pool he would stop by and admire the local pharmacist’s dark brown 356B with that strange metal PCA badge on the back grill. Bob’s first date with his wife, Christa, was at the 1973 Daytona 24 Hours race. Their first Porsche was in 1975 when they bought a 1964 356C.

Category : News

Hello to all registered Advanced Solo DE Drivers from this year’s Zone 12 Oktoberfast at Daytona!

You might have met Joseph Kearsey in October. Joe wasn’t driving, but, was attending as a friend of Gord McNeil, who was. Joe came all the way from Newfoundland, Canada to experience Daytona and Oktoberfast.

Joe took a LOT of pictures during our DE and has made them available to us. The Flickr link below will take you to Joe’s Oktoberfast photos; just copy-and-paste to your web browser. There’s no charge to download any of these, but, if you should happen to publish one (or more), Joe would appreciate photo credit.
