Porsche Fort Myers and Riptide Brewing have teamed up to present the “Taycan Showcase + 4 Door Reunion” on Saturday, October 2nd. Tickets are $25 per person and include two pints of beer, one item at the Boys & Girls Club food truck and a commemorative glass.

Advance registration and payment are required, and attendance is limited to 100 tickets. REGISTER HERE

Come out and have fun with Everglades members. Check out the amazing Porsche Taycans on display and speak with the experts from Porsche Fort Myers. Questions? Please contact David Bankston at bankman2@icloud.com.

Zone 12 News: Zonefest had to be canceled; Daytona Autocross registration is now open

Category : News

Third Time is the Charm: Zonefest has been Postponed until Memorial Day Weekend 2022 (May 27-29)

After closely monitoring the Melbourne area’s recent spike in COVID-19 infections and hospitalizations, the Zonefest Committee decided that it was safest to cancel our Zonefest event over Labor Day Weekend this year. But make sure to put Zonefest 2022 on your calendar for Memorial Day weekend.

Fortunately, Porsche Melbourne and the American Muscle Car Museum have been very supportive all along and agreed to sponsor/host this event again next year. We had to postpone last year’s Zonefest to this year – so now, the third time must be the charm!

Anyone who was registered for this year’s event and had already paid will receive full refunds through Club Registration. Please remember to cancel your hotel reservations at the Hilton (or elsewhere), as these will not automatically cancel. In addition, if you registered for this year’s event, you’ll receive a special reminder when 2022 registration opens early next year. On behalf of Space Coast Region, we look forward to seeing you all in May for Zonefest 2022!

Join in on the PCA Fun all year, wherever you are

Remember that as a member of PCA, please feel free to join in on other Regions events when you’re in the area. Unless a Region has a reason to limit attendance to only its members (such as for anniversary events), most events are open to all – and you’ll always feel welcomed at any Region’s event! This past weekend, we had members from 7 of our Regions in attendance at the Gold Coast Region’s Escape to the Cape event. It was a beautiful venue, with lots of happy PCA members enjoying time with their friends and families.

And also remember that you can be a member of more than one Region (whether here in Zone 12, “back home” up north, or anywhere else in PCA). Just call the National Office at 410-381-0911, and they’ll be able to help get you set up. And note that if you happen to live in the area of our newest Region, Gulfstream, and you’d like to become a member of that Region while remaining in Gold Coast too, just call the National Office. That way, you’ll receive all the communications from those particular Regions, and you’ll stay up to date about their events.

And the final good news is … registration for the OktoberFast Autocross is now open!

Just go to ClubRegistration.net to sign up for the Autocross on the infield Kart track at Daytona. Enjoy watching the Club Race and Driver’s Ed on the high banks while you’re having fun at the Autocross!
https://clubregistration.net/events/signUp.cfm/event/11788

The AX will be Saturday, October 23, and the cost is only $50 if you pre-register online. If you wait until the day of the event and register on-site, the cost will be $60. So, save yourself money and effort and register for the AX in ClubReg today! And don’t worry about payment now, because all registrants will pay at the event.

Stay safe and healthy, and I hope to see you at an event soon!

Zone 12 – OktoberFast Daytona DE Registration now open (including a Nighttime DE!)

Category : News

Daytona OktoberFast Solo DE / Nighttime DE Registration Now Open
Calling all solo DE drivers or Club Racers – now’s your chance to not only drive Daytona, but drive it under the lights, just like the big boys!! This year, we’re planning 2 nights under the lights, in addition to our regular daily DE and Club Race schedule.

REGISTRATION FOR SOLO DE – AND NIGHT SESSIONS – NOW OPEN:  https://clubregistration.net/events/event-details.cfm?event_id=11334

Solo DE Drivers: When you register, if you’d also like to run in the Adv. Solo Night Sessions, please go to the Event Options section and select that additional option.

Club Racers: You’ll register for the Club Race, like usual (registration opens in September). But if you’d like to participate in nighttime DE sessions too, please sign into the Solo DE event and select “Club Racer,” and then add the Club Race Night Session as an option.

All about OktoberFast at Daytona: October 22-24, 2021

For those of you who may not know, OktoberFast is our Zone 12 Club Race at Daytona International Speedway – and it’s a lot of fun! As always, we’ll have the Club Race, Advanced Solo DE and a super-fun Autocross on the infield Kart track. But this year, we’ll also offer a nighttime Solo DE for advanced drivers!

And OktoberFast will be the site of the East Region Championship for the Club Racing 944 Series!

This OktoberFast will be bigger and better than ever, with the Club Race, Advanced Solo DE, Nighttime Solo DE, Autocross, Charity Track Touring, and a People’s Choice Car Show.

While you’re participating in all the incredible events during the weekend, you’ll have the chance to get up close and personal with Club Racing – explore the garages and view the races from the best vantage points along the paddock.

This year we’ll open our first Goodie Store filled with incredible PCA apparel and accessories to commemorate OktoberFast and Club Racing. There will also be several onsite vendors, keeping you up to date with the latest safety gear, new tires, and select racing parts and accessories.

Volunteers

We’ll need more Volunteers than ever, so if you’d like to help out and learn what it’s like to be behind the scenes at Daytona, please plan to be a Volunteer (cool T-shirt included!). We’ll open registration soon, but if you’re interested, please email Ray with any questions: raygrynk2@outlook.com.

Track Touring

For all of us who will be there to enjoy all the fun and camaraderie, we can take our cars on the full track too! We’ll offer track touring opportunities on Saturday and Sunday, providing donations to a worthy new charity: Cure SMA, which is dedicated to the treatment and care of spinal muscular atrophy (SMA). SMA is the number one genetic cause of death for infants, and it takes away a person’s ability to walk, eat, or breathe.

Several of our Regions will be planning a drive over to Daytona for the car show, autocross or just to watch the races – check with your leadership team to find out if your Region will be having a group event. Plan to come to Daytona and enjoy all that the weekend has to offer!

All registration will be on ClubRegistration.net: Club Race, Solo DE, Nighttime Solo DE, Autocross, and Volunteers.

Hope to see you at Daytona!

Zone 12 – Upcoming Events, from late summer into fall!

Category : News

It’s hard to believe we’re almost halfway through August, but this year has flown by even faster than last year. I hope you’ve all had opportunities to enjoy the summer, have fun with your friends and family, and that you and your families are healthy and happy.

We have a lot of great events in late summer, into early fall – including Zonefest, hosted by Space Coast, coming up in just a few weeks. And our Zone 12 Club Race and Solo DE at Daytona in October, including nighttime DE sessions this year (see additional details below)!

As with all of our events, the health and safety of our participants is our top priority. We’re constantly monitoring the situation in each area of our Zone. So, if things change, we’ll adjust and adapt accordingly. Perhaps some events will need to be held outside or possibly canceled entirely if the situation calls for that. But hopefully, things will get better, not worse.

With that in mind, here are some great events currently scheduled, all around the Zone.

Everglades’ Trip Across the Alley to Super Car Saturday
This Saturday, August 14

Everglades Region worked with the Super Car Saturday founders to organize a group drive over from Naples to Pembroke Pines.

Time: 7:00 am-noon
Starting Location: Porsche Naples, 3147 Davis Blvd; caravan over Alligator Alley directly to the event. Drive time 90 minutes.
Event Location: 527 SW 145th Terrace, Pembroke Pines

And Taycan Drivers will be covered! Super chargers will be along the drive.

For complete details and to register to attend, please contact David at bankman2@icloud.com.

Gulfstream’s Lighthouse Photo Scavenger Hunt/Rally
Sunday, August 22

The scavenger hunt will start at 2:30 pm in Palm Beach Gardens and will end with dinner at the Jetty Restaurant in Jupiter. The person with the most confirmed photos of “lighthouses” will be the winner: The Lighthouse may be a “real” lighthouse or just a building, store, or business that has the word Lighthouse in it. A judge will review all photos, and trophies will be awarded for the highest scores!

Register here: https://clubregistration.net/events/event-details.cfm?event_id=11674

It’s going to be quite a party, but most importantly this event will support a great charity.  Attendees are encouraged to wear anything red to show their enthusiastic support.

This will be open to all Porsche owners and enthusiasts, and all wonderful people who have a “Heart for Giving.”  The event will be presented by the Florida Thoroughbred Region, with proceeds supporting The American Heart Association Marion County Heart Walk. Zone 12 News – Zone 12’s PCA National Award Winners recognized at Parade!

Category : News

At this year’s Parade in lovely French Lick, Indiana, some of the most prestigious awards went to Regions in Zone 12! These were all very well-deserved recognition for a lot of hard work and commitment, not only to our Regions’ membership but also to the communities we support. To win these awards at any Parade is a big achievement, but to be recognized during one of the most challenging years we’ve ever experienced is an even bigger accomplishment.

Congratulations to all our Zone 12 participants and winners at Parade, and in particular, our major award winners!

Everglades Region won the 2020 Public Service Award

Congratulations, Everglades, for this well-deserved recognition! This is a major honor, recognizing the Region that best represents the giving spirit of PCA – one winner out of 146 Regions across the US and Canada. The Everglades leadership team, led by President John Petracco, and Everglades members gave back tremendously to the charities and communities in the Region and performed public service all across Florida, all through the year.

In 2017, Everglades started the tradition of the Porsche Parade of Presents to Golisano Children’s Hospital in Fort Myers, with John and Val Petracco’s inspiration and leadership. During 2018 and 2019, the event grew larger and eight other Regions in Zone 12 also had their own similar events, on the same charity weekend in December. By December 2020, in the midst of the covid-19 pandemic, the Everglades Region Parade of Presents featured 153 cars, including more than 100 Porsches. The Region members delivered toys and more than $200,000 in donations to Golisano and the Lee Health Foundation.

Along with a beautiful trophy that was presented at Parade, Everglades will receive $1,500 to help in their ongoing public service efforts.

Please read about Everglades’ public service efforts all throughout 2020: Everglades Region’s Public Service

They were also recognized earlier this year, as Members Making a Difference.

Gold Coast Region was also recognized as the 3rd place recipient in the Public Service category, and the Region will receive $500 to help with their charitable efforts. Great job, Gold Coast! Please read Gold Coast President Peter Olliviere’s submission for the Public Service award: Gold Coast Region’s Public Service

Puerto Rico Region won the Actual Growth Membership Award

The Region leadership worked hard to keep the membership engaged and active, and they grew from 359 primary members in December 2019 to 527 members in Dec 2020 – a 168-member increase, during a very challenging year. Congratulations to Puerto Rico President, Javier Cordero, and all the Region leaders!

Website and Newsletter Awards

Zone 12 also had a few Regions and members recognized for their hard work and contributions to our websites and newsletters.

  • Our newest Region was recognized: Gulfstream’s website earned 2nd Place in Class I – great job, Webmaster Dale Brundige!
  • Sonnenschein Region’s website was 2nd in Class II – recognizing wonderful, ongoing work by Webmaster Keith Boring!
  • And in the Newsletter contest, Suncoast Region’s “Porsche Profile” was 3rd place in Class VI – thanks to a lot of hard work and dedication by Editor Norm Sippel, and the Suncoast members who provide interesting articles all year long!

Please check out all the Parade results.

Next year’s Parade will be in the beautiful Poconos, at the Kalahari Resort, June 12-18, 2022. Registration will open in early 2022, so keep an eye out for Parade info early next year.

Learn more about the adventure in the Poconos: https://www.poconomountains.com/

And one last reminder to register for our “Mini-Parade,” Zonefest, held Labor Day weekend in Melbourne. The roster is filling up fast, and it may max out soon. Registration closes August 16 or sooner, if it reaches capacity. Register now for Zonefest.

Hope to see you there!

As we enter the second half of 2021, most of our Regions will be planning upcoming charity events. If you have interesting ideas or would like to help out with your Region’s charity plans, please reach out to your President or other Region Leadership. We can all be members making a difference!

Again, congrats to all our Parade winners and contributors!

Register now to attend Zonefest 2021 – Zone 12’s mini-Parade!

Labor Day weekend (Sep 3-5), in Melbourne, FL

Register here: Zonefest 2021

This is our annual event that allows us to get together with members from all throughout Zone 12 – catch up with old friends and make new ones as well! Space Coast Region is our host this year, and they’ve planned a wonderful weekend for us.

Porsche Melbourne and the American Muscle Car Museum (AMCM) are our primary sponsors for this year’s event. Registration will be limited to the first 150 participants. Make sure to register soon – so you won’t miss out!

Here’s the schedule of events:

  • Friday night welcome dinner/cocktail party at Porsche Melbourne – and if you’ve ever been there, you know they put on great events!
  • Saturday will be spent at Mark Pieloch’s American Muscle Car Museum (AMCM) – starting with a concours on the beautiful grounds; a tour of their Garage/Maintenance area; and then a Gimmick Rally in the afternoon.
  • Saturday night we’ll enjoy a fantastic dinner in the incredible museum, which houses more than 325 spectacular cars, including 44 Porsches. This collection is closed to the public, except during exclusive charity events.
  • Sunday brings us back to the AMCM for our autocross. The site is amazing, featuring a 1/8-mile dragstrip, skid pad, and road course all in one. Space Coast always puts on fun and challenging autocrosses, with approximately 60 second run times. Beginners are welcome, and we’ll have instructors available to drive with you to make sure you have fun!
  • If autocross isn’t your thing, you can enjoy a guided scenic drive to a great historic lunch location, Dixie Crossroads, or plan to visit any of the local attractions in the area.
  • Sunday afternoon plan to attend an ice cream social to cool off while you watch a Porsche Tractor display and demonstration at the AMCM.
  • Sunday night, we’ll close Zonefest with a delicious banquet at the Eau Gallie Yacht Club, celebrating the weekend’s individual award winners!

And as a special option over the weekend, Mark Pieloch has offered to provide a personal tour through the museum. He’ll give the history and significance of numerous cars and tell you the inside scoop on how he acquired them. The entire proceeds from this special tour will go to charity.

Hotel rooms are not included as part of registration, but we have a block of rooms at the Melbourne Rialto Hilton for a group rate of $121/night. Contact the hotel directly at 321-768-0200 (“Zonefest” is the code to use for group rate). Each registrant is responsible for making their own plans for accommodation.

If you’d like to book a room online, use this link: Zonefest Hilton hotel

Concours categories will be determined by the actual cars registered, so please include it when registering (you’ll know your class after you register at the event). You do not have to use the same vehicle for every event, but every vehicle needs to be a Porsche.

There will be a welcome package, including an event polo shirt and other items to commemorate Zonefest 2021. All events, the dinners and ice cream social are included for the price of $150 per person for adults; children 12 and under are $75 each. There will be drink tickets available to purchase for cocktails at the Sunday Banquet; and box lunches are available for purchase on Saturday and Sunday.

Remember, there will be a limit of 150 participants, so please register early!

Hope to see you there!!
