Zone 12 Events Celebrating Porsche’s 70th Anniversary (6/9/18)

Category : News

From the Press Room of Porsche, we’re all invited to participate in the truly global celebrations commemorating a very special day!

“The first vehicle to bear the Porsche name was registered on June 8, 1948: It was the 356 “No.1” Roadster. This is the day on which the Porsche brand was born. 70 years ago, Ferry Porsche brought us the world’s most beloved sports car. Since then, his dream of the perfect car has driven sports car passion around the world. Driving a sports car creates moments so valuable and exciting, you can’t help but want to share them with others.

In light of those moments, we are pleased to announce Sportscar Together Day: a worldwide celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Porsche sports car. This first ever global Sportscar Together Day will be held June 8-10, 2018. To celebrate in true Porsche fashion, we’re encouraging you to start sharing your experiences now. Whether you’re running an errand with family or on a road trip sharing Porsche passion with friends, don’t forget to share your moments with us on social media using #SportscarTogether.”

All around Zone 12, there will be several #SportscarTogether events on Saturday, June 9. So, plan to get out and enjoy the big day with your Porsche family at any events that are convenient for you:

Crown
Join Florida Crown at Porsche Jacksonville for the Annual Concours and Swap Meet. Kevin Jeannette, owner of Gunnar Porsche Racing, will be the special guest. Expect to see a few historic Porsches from the world-renowned Brumos Collection on hand as well.

Concours
Porsche Jacksonville will open up the front lot at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, and concours entrants should be in place by 9 a.m. The concours is $20 per car and will be open to all Porsches. Judging will be on the general areas: engine, interior, paint, trunk & wheels, and should be completed by 11 a.m., with awards following at approximately 1 p.m.

Swap Meet
If you have extra Porsche parts, memorabilia, or anything Porsche, the swap meet is the place to sell it or trade for it. There is no fee to set up a table, but swappers need to contact Jamie at Porsche Jacksonville at 904-725-9155 or toll-free at 866-764-8061 to reserve a table. As in years past, the dealership will also have special sale items, so bring your parts and your wallet because you never know what will show up. The swap meet will run until about 2 p.m.

For more information, contact Hans-Dieter Mandt, Event Chair, at 904-910-5923 or hdmandt@gmail.com. Concours questions can be directed to Chris Hoyt, Concours Chair, at 904-910-7874.
