Zone 12 Volunteers Rock! … and Other News Around the Zone

Category : News

THANKS TO ALL OUR ROLEX 24 AND SEBRING 48 VOLUNTEERS! In Zone 12, we had another great start to our year when we welcomed Porsche owners and PCA members from all over, to the country’s premier IMSA race (at Daytona) and the best PCA Club Race (at Sebring). As with all our events, we couldn’t do it without our wonderful Volunteers – but these are two of the biggest and best events in the country. Again – thank you so much for all your helpfulness, enthusiasm and friendliness, which ensured a fun time was had by all!

And now, for something completely different … Here are some of our other upcoming events:

Saturday, February 23: Street Survival School @ Sebring

The school is open to fully licensed drivers only, ages 16-21. If you have a teen/young adult who is already driving, he or she can benefit from attending this great driving school – the only one to be held in Florida this year.

Suncoast Region will be the local host for the national Tire Rack Street Survival (TRSS) school, during the February Sebring DE weekend (Feb 23-24, 2019). As the official TRSS website says, “The primary emphasis of the Tire Rack Street Survival® is a ‘hands-on’ driving experience in real-world situations! It’s about more than driving – it’s about LIVING!”

Questions? Please contact TRSS coordinator John Sabatini (john.a.sabatini@gmail.com).

Friday, March 8: Werks Reunion Amelia Island

PCA welcomes all Porsche clubs, owners, and enthusiasts to the third annual Werks Reunion Amelia Island, on the Friday preceding the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance. At Werks, a free-to-spectators event, expect to view a breathtaking array of Porsches – from rare classics to current models and everything in between. Display your own cherished car in model-specific Porsche Corrals or enter the Porsche Judged Field and compete to win in more than 20 prize categories.

If you’d like to be a Volunteer at Werks, please email Dora Barren (dorabob@comcast.net). If you’ll already be up there by Thursday, we’ll need help on Thursday morning (March 7th) to stuff goodie bags, or Thursday late morning to afternoon to set up the field. And for the day of Werks, we need people for the Friday morning and afternoon shifts. Please email Dora if you can help!

Learn all about Werks here, including how to register for the Corral or for judging: http://werksreunion.com/amelia.cfm

Register for Werks today! It closes Feb 22.

Friday/Saturday, March 15-16: Super Sebring – 1,000 Miles of Sebring on Friday / 12 Hours of Sebring on Saturday

Please email me if you know you’ll be at Sebring and can help! I’ll be finalizing the schedule soon for long days on Friday and Saturday. This year, there will be two major races – on Friday AND Saturday. Lots more fun … but that also means we’ll need extra help on Friday!

Porsche Corral passes are still available but will probably be sold out soon:

Porsche Parade Registration is Open

In the first week, more than 700 people registered!

Register here: http://porscheparade.org/registration.html

Learn all about Parade here: http://porscheparade.org/

After you register, you’ll be able to book your room at the Boca Raton Resort. You can view the room options here: http://porscheparade.org/hotels.html

The other big Parade date to mark is Monday, April 15. This will begin Phase 2 Registration, when you’ll be able to pick the events and banquets you want to attend, as well as register as a Volunteer.

Thanks to everyone who’s reached out about Volunteering at Parade and to those who are helping us with the pre-planning! THE ONLY OFFICIAL WAY TO VOLUNTEER IS DURING THE PHASE 2 REGISTRATION.

During Phase 2, when you register to Volunteer, just pick the specific role you want – such as tour lead or sweep; tour staging; concours; autocross, etc. After you pick the options you’d like to help with, the Parade Volunteer Coordinator will assign you once you’re at Parade. No experience needed – all you need to volunteer is a good attitude and a welcoming smile!

Check out all the ways you can help at Parade: http://www.porscheparade.org/volunteering.html

NOTE: Volunteers must be registered for Parade.
