Zone 12 PCA: Upcoming Events!
Category : News
I hope you had a wonderful holiday season and the new year is starting off right! I enjoyed meeting many of you at a lot of the Region Holiday parties, and a few Regions held some great charity events during the holiday months.
Of course, we’re lucky that our “winter” basically involves having a light jacket in the car, so we have no reason to stay parked in the garage! In 2019 we’ll have a lot of great events all across the Zone, and as usual, our first few months are really active with socials and autocrosses, as well as our annual big events. So, let’s get out there and have fun!
Rolex 24 (January 25-27)
The Rolex 24 at Daytona is coming up next week, and as always, we’ll be hosting the PCA Corral. Thanks to all of you who have already volunteered to help – we appreciate your willingness to be there and we certainly couldn’t do it without you!
If you happen to be going to the Rolex and may have a little time to give back, we can always use more help. Just email me or stop by the PCA tent and ask how you can pitch in – it’ll be fun, and you’ll get to make new friends and meet other Porsche owners from all over the world!
Read more about Rolex here, including the PCA Tent schedule: https://www.pca.org/event/2018-07-24/pca-car-corral-2019-24-hours-daytona
Also, this year there will be all sorts of car-related events at One Daytona – the entertainment complex across from the Speedway.

Porsche Parade Registration – Opens at Noon ET on Monday, Feb 4
Finally – it’s almost time to register! As you probably know, Parade is in Boca, July 21-27. The Parade website is up and running, and it will be updated all the way up to Parade – so check often for updates.
Parade site: http://porscheparade.org/
At noon on Monday, February 4, you’ll go here to register for Parade: http://porscheparade.org/registration.html
After you register, you’ll be able to book your room at the Boca Raton Resort. You can view the room options here: http://porscheparade.org/hotels.html
The other big Parade date to mark is Monday, April 15. This will begin Phase 2 Registration, when you’ll be able to pick the events and banquets you want to attend, as well as Volunteer.
Thanks to everyone who’s reached out about Volunteering at Parade and to those who are helping us with the pre-planning! THE ONLY OFFICIAL WAY TO VOLUNTEER IS DURING THE PHASE 2 REGISTRATION.
During Phase 2, when you register to Volunteer, just pick the specific role you want – such as tour lead or sweep; tour staging; concours; autocross, etc. After you pick the options you’d like to help with, the Parade Volunteer Coordinator will assign you once you’re at Parade. No experience needed – all you need to volunteer is a good attitude and a welcoming smile!
Check out all the ways you can help at Parade: http://www.porscheparade.org/volunteering.html
NOTE: Volunteers must be registered for Parade.

Here are some of the other big dates/events to mark on your calendar.
Saturday, February 23: Street Survival @ Sebring
Once again Suncoast Region will be the local host for the national Tire Rack Street Survival (TRSS) school, during the February Sebring DE weekend (Feb 23-24, 2019). As the official TRSS website says, “The primary emphasis of the Tire Rack Street Survival® is a ‘hands-on’ driving experience in real-world situations! It’s about more than driving – it’s about LIVING!”
The school is open to fully licensed drivers only, ages 16-21. If you have a teen who is already driving, he or she can benefit from attending this great driving school.
Also, if you’d like to help out and be an instructor, please contact TRSS coordinator John Sabatini (john.a.sabatini@gmail.com).

Expect to view a breathtaking array of Porsches at this free-to-spectators event, from rare classics to current models and everything in between. Friday/Saturday, March 15-16: Super Sebring – 1,000 Miles of Sebring on Friday / 12 Hours of Sebring on Saturday
This year, there will be two major races at Sebring – on Friday AND Saturday. Lots more fun … but that also means we’ll need extra help on Friday! We’ll start organizing for Volunteers soon, but if you know you’ll be there and you can help, please let me know.

May 24-26 (Memorial Day weekend): Zone Fest in Beautiful Mt Dora!
This year Zone Fest will also mark Citrus Region’s 45th Anniversary! Registration will open on Club Registration.net in late January/early February, with complete details about the event and hotel! There is a separate registration for the Autocross on Sunday (already open on Club Reg).
July 21-27: Porsche Parade in Boca Raton
(Enough said above … for now!)
Remember to check the Zone 12 Calendar for almost all the Regions’ events: https://zone12.pca.org/calendar/
After reading all this (and then waking up from your nap!), when you have a few minutes read how a couple of our Regions gave back during the holidays. And remember – the various charities that all our Regions support need help all year round.

This year also brings the 25th Anniversary of the Puerto Rico Region as well as the 45th Anniversary of Florida Citrus Region. Happy Anniversary!
Thanks to all Region Leadership and all the Volunteers who keep PCA running. We couldn’t do it without our Volunteers! So please consider helping out in 2019 – every little bit helps! It’s easy to get started: Just ask your Region leadership/a specific Event Chair how you can help. I’m sure they’d be very appreciative – and you’ll have fun, learn a lot and meet lots of new people.
Hope to see you around in 2019!!
Lisa
