Zone 12 PCA – Fun things on the holiday horizon and into 2020!

Category : News

Before we get to the almost “routine” fun things we’re so fortunate to be able to do, let’s recognize and appreciate our veterans on this special day! Thanks to all who have served and sacrificed – and to all the families who have supported them and sacrificed as well.

We’re just a month away from our first Zone 12 Holiday Parade of Presents! Each Region is having its own day of giving – and giving it its own unique name, whether Parade of Presents, Miles of Smiles or something else festive and fun. You’ll receive specific details soon from your Region leadership with all the details for your Region’s day of giving (either December 14 or 15). We look forward to being able to bring smiles to so many children all around Zone 12 at this special time of year.

Judges are needed for this Saturday’s Porsches by the Bay Concours at the Mandarin Oriental in Miami. If you can help, please contact Peter Olliviere at (954) 816-6005.

  • Mandarin Oriental Hotel, 500 Brickell Key Dr. Miami FL. 33131
  • Saturday 11/16/19, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Roar Before the 24 will be January 3-5, 2020. It’s the final dress rehearsal before the Rolex 24 At DAYTONA, and it’s free with your admission to the Rolex. It’s a great chance to get up close to all the teams and drivers while they’re working out the final kinks in their cars and strategies for the race.

The Rolex 24 is January 23-26, 2020, and we’ll need Volunteers to help us park cars and welcome PCA members every day at the PCA Car Corral. If you’re going to the Rolex and can give back a few hours of time to help us, please let me know. We usually need a few extra people on Friday, since a lot of us can’t take off work that day. If you know you’ll be there on Friday – or any day – please let me know now! As usual, the traditional daily shifts will be managed by the respective Regions, but anyone can work at any time they’re available (not only when their Region is managing).

The week after Rolex will be the 48 Hours at Sebring Club Race / DE / AX, January 30 – February 2, 2020. The Committee needs dozens of Volunteers to help, and registration is already open. So please volunteer today if you know you can go: http://48hoursatsebring.com/volunteersignin.php

  • Racer registration opens at 10 p.m. ET on December 2, 2019, on ClubRegistration.net
  • Registration for the Advanced Solo DE will open December 9 at 7 p.m. ET on ClubRegistration.net
  • Autocross registration is open on ClubRegistration.net (no on-site registration). There’s a limit of 75 paid entries (Porsche cars and club members only).

Werks Reunion will once again be held during the Amelia Island Concours weekend. Werks will be Friday, March 6, 2020, and registration will open in mid-December.

Guests are welcome to attend 2020 Werks Reunion Amelia Island free of charge (parking fees apply). Porsche owners interested in displaying their vehicles must register (and pay) in one of two categories:

  • Porsche Corral – Display your cherished Porsche proudly alongside others in its model type. Corral participants are not considered in judged competition.
  • Porsche Judged Field – Compete against other owners to take home one of more than 20 great awards

See details: http://www.werksreunion.com/amelia.cfm

SuperSebring 2020 tickets are on sale now and there are still Porscheplatz tickets available! There’s Early Bird pricing on admission tickets until Nov 29: Sebring 2020 early bird admission

And if you want to park your Porsche (only Porsches allowed!) in the Porscheplatz car corral, you can still buy tickets (package includes parking and 1 or 2 admission tickets): Porscheplatz car corral/admission tickets

Just like with Rolex at Daytona, we’ll need a ton of Volunteers to help us run the Porscheplatz at Sebring. If you know you’ll be there, please let me know you can volunteer to have fun with us there too.

This past weekend we had a blast on the Sunrise to Sunset Rally, starting in Melbourne and driving down and across to parts of the state that looked surprisingly nothing like Florida, with fantastic roads to match … winding up with dinner at the beach on Anna Maria Island. Thanks again to the teams in Space Coast and Suncoast for planning and leading this fantastic event, and thanks for the support of Porsche Melbourne and Shay Rowe.

As we enter the holiday season, I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving with family and friends and that you can take time to enjoy all the good things that this time of year can bring. All our Regions are having holiday or after-holiday parties, so try to get to yours so you can share the holidays with your PCA friends.

Hope to see you soon,

Lisa
