Feb 24 at Sebring: Instructors Needed for the Street Survival School for Teens

Category : News

The Tire Rack Street Survival school (TRSS) starts at about 9 a.m. and goes to about 4 p.m. on Saturday, February 24, at Sebring, in conjunction with Suncoast’s February DE. And they still need instructors – especially you ladies! We really need your help for this one – you don’t have to be a PCA instructor. Please email johnrvita@gmail.com if you’d like to be an instructor for TRSS.

The only requirements for TRSS instructors are that you enjoy working with teens and that you take an online course for certification. You’ll be assigned 2 students that you’ll do in-car instruction with throughout the day. Lunch is provided, and instructors will receive a Suncoast DE certificate for helping out. All of our instructors say it’s an awesome experience, so please come out on February 24 and help make a difference.

About TRSS:
When your teen driver attends a Street Survival school, we teach them to control their car in unpredictable situations based on its handling limits. They master the application of the physics of driving, using their car. They learn how to make good driving decisions and react more quickly. They become more aware and learn how to begin anticipating the actions of other drivers. The Tire Rack Street Survival Teen Driving School, hosted by Suncoast PCA at Sebring International Raceway on Saturday, February 24, 2018 is only $95 per student. Teens must be at least 16 years old with a valid driver’s license. A learner’s permit is not acceptable.

For more information, please go to: www.streetsurvival.org.

Rolex 24 – Thank You PCA Corral Volunteers!

Category : News

Hi, Rolex Volunteers!

I just wanted to say thanks again for giving your time and efforts to make this year’s PCA Corral at the Rolex 24 so efficient, welcoming and fun! So many people came up to us and said thanks for our hospitality and that they really had a great time. You all made Zone 12 look as good as we already know it is, and your help was very much appreciated!

Some of you did multiple shifts – or multiple days! You are all such good representatives of what PCA is all about, and I certainly hope you all had a lot of fun as well. Please, if you notice I left anyone off this chain, pass this along to them as well (I didn’t have everyone’s email).

For next year, we’re considering streamlining the process more to ensure all Regions are less burdened with logistics, so stay tuned for info later this year. And if you have any specific suggestions for improvement, please let me know!

Again – thanks so much for all you do! And I hope to see a lot of you at the Sebring 12 Hours in March (please email me if you’d like to help out at the Porscheplatz)!

I’ll see a lot of you at the Sebring 48 this weekend.

Much appreciation,

Category : News

Hello to all registered Advanced Solo DE Drivers from this year’s Zone 12 Oktoberfast at Daytona!

You might have met Joseph Kearsey in October. Joe wasn’t driving, but, was attending as a friend of Gord McNeil, who was. Joe came all the way from Newfoundland, Canada to experience Daytona and Oktoberfast.

Joe took a LOT of pictures during our DE and has made them available to us. The Flickr link below will take you to Joe’s Oktoberfast photos; just copy-and-paste to your web browser. There’s no charge to download any of these, but, if you should happen to publish one (or more), Joe would appreciate photo credit.

Oktoberfast Zone 12 Club race at Daytona…..October 27-29

Category : News

Oktoberfast is just around the corner!  This is Zone 12’s other Club Race… (the first being the 48 hours of Sebring by Suncoast/Gold Coast regions) and will be held on October 27-29 at Daytona International Speedway. It has all the activities you have come to expect …an Autocross, a Driver Education (DE) for experienced advanced solo/Instructors, Club Race and GT4 Clubsport final race. Registration for all events is open in ClubRegistration.net and there are plenty of  DE spots and garages available open!! It’s a great opportunity for you to drive Daytona!

The DE is not limited to Porsches. Drivers must either be a PCA National Instructor, or, have achieved Advanced Solo status with their home region AND have a minimum of four events where PCA Expanded Passing was in use (passing anywhere on the track, including the turns, with a point by). Experience with “expanded passing” with other HPDE organizations (e.g., Chin, Hooked on Driving, etc.) will be acceptable. If you are a Solo driver (for example, White run group with Suncoast PCA) and want to see if you may be eligible to drive contact the Event Chair, Jim Burnett at 904-910-0596. You can also reach Jim at 111margaret@att.net.  Questions? Contact Jim. Hope to see you there!

If you are a Club racer there also lots of spots left in sprint, enduro and other racing as well as those world class garage spaces and RV sites at Daytona International Speedway…..Join the fun and race this bucket list track

Looking to still compete, but not quite ready for This track, why not consider the  AutoX taking place on 10/28 at the go-cart track. This cart track is big and offers a chance to compete against some of Zone 12’s best Autocrossers.

Registration closes soon so visit Club registration today and sign up. Auto X questions ….call Steve or Dottie at 954 946-3196.
